Villas Project

This poster is 28 inches high, and printed on rugged card stock. The mountains and people are from an 1890's French travel agency poster. The typefaces are adapted from vintage Parks Department brochures, and the ornament on the upper left is from a 19th century lead-type catalog.

The building is scanned from the architect's elevation drawings. The mountains were completely redone, using textures from Hiroshige postcards and other travel posters.

The bushes, trees, and people were brought in from other posters. The flowers were taken from an heirloom wildflower guide, and the butterfly was a real, preserved insect.

Here is a section of the poster at a 1:1 scale.

Historical Map Re-Creation

This map measures 72" on the long dimension.

Scans of nineteenth century travel guide illustrations were combined with ornamental printer's details, and added to a high resolution scan of an 1893 map of the United States.

Cartoon characters were added to prominent locations.

Summer and Winter Posters

These posters were 45" on the long dimension.

An architectural elevation was incorporated into an old travel poster, and then filled in with trees, lawn and people imported from other posters.
